The Blueprint of a Healthy Church
The Blueprint of a Healthy Church
Building a local church body is a task far beyond any of us. A truly successful church can only be born out of the power of God’s Spirit working through God’s people who have been truly saved by Christ’s grace. And its long-term success is wholly dependent on one’s faithfulness to the architect’s plans for the church. As a church we believe God has given us these plans for the church in His Word which is why we have decided to begin a series in 1 Timothy about the blueprints for a healthy, thriving church.
The Apostle Paul writes to Timothy, “I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:14-15). A healthy church is a church that is a clear representation of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in character, in doctrine, and in relationships. 1 Timothy was written for the express purpose to instruct a young pastor how to order and lead a healthy church. More important than committees, church buildings, events, carpet color, etc. is the spiritual life of the church set on following God more than following trends; devoted less to models and more to Gospel-centered structure; pursuing spiritual formation more than comfort; and finding ways to love our community more than just socializing for fun.
Our newest sermon series seeks to expound on the letter of 1 Timothy and look at the different aspects of a healthy church. Each chapter of the letter is like a schematic laid one on top of another to show the full picture of a secure and rock-solid structure. We aim to explore the character, prayer life, leadership, beliefs, conduct, and motivation of a healthy church through this summer. Join us as we seek to be faithful to the architect’s plan for a healthy and thriving church.
